Unpacking Jak R. Maier

Bauhaus Archiv, Berlin 2023
exhibition deisgn and production

What does it mean to decide and dispose of another person's objects? And what does a museum do with such an inheritance? The exhibition “Unpacking Jak R. Maier” and the accompanying event series “unpackings” explore these questions. At the same time, it invites visitors to engage with their own estate: What objects define me and what do I leave behind?

The exhibition is organised in 4 different stations where objects and their value are unpacked, analysed, processed and exhibited to the visitor.  Therefore the flexible and process-based exhitibition design enables active research on the inheritance through  a series of research events and formats with experts and the public.
